Draven is a grey elf, once a dark elf, who founded and leads the guild Dark Crescent out of Moonward while he searches for a way to reclaim the dark power he lost. [last-winter#382]

Overview

He is known by several epithets, among them the "Caller of the Moonless Night" and the "Avenger of the Forsaken." [heralds-b#283] He was originally a dark elf. [heralds-b#351] His most distinctive feature is a pair of glowing obsidian eyes. [heralds-b#349] One of his arms is missing, replaced by an arm made of darkness, and he wears dark armor with a dark purple cloak. [heralds-b#353]

In the words EKREM used to frame Draven's own ballad, he is a man whose people were slaughtered and whose love was never returned. [heralds-b#339] Alone, he fled into the gap between realms, feeling alienated and forgotten, wanting power and a chance to prove his importance. [heralds-b#339] He wished to shine in her eyes with his obsidian gaze; with his trust broken, he walks on, left behind. [heralds-b#339]

History

Draven was once a close companion of Kaelen. [heralds-b#255] Using forbidden knowledge, he opened a shadow portal and betrayed his old friend. [heralds-b#255] Kaelen pursued him and the two fought; in the confrontation Kaelen took Draven's arm, but Draven managed to escape. [heralds-a#3 · heralds-b#255] Draven had come to that city hoping to regain his old powers, and in the process he lost his arm and severed his former ties. [heralds-b#283]

After the adventures that followed, Draven learned about his own origins and wanted to become more important than Lady Emyl. [last-winter#382] He traveled to Moonward, the capital of the Moonward Duchy, and struck an agreement with its Duke to found Dark Crescent there, a guild built for royal assassinations and a spy network, with Draven as its mastermind. [last-winter#382]

Some time later, the leader of the Dark Court in the Fae realm was slain, and every dark elf — Draven included — was transformed into a grey elf. [last-winter#382] Draven has not accepted the change; he is searching for a way to reclaim his dark powers, and seeks a grimoire said to be hidden in a lost library somewhere in the region of Iceverf. [last-winter#382]

Power and politics

Draven leads Dark Crescent out of Moonward, plotting together with the city's rulers under the agreement he struck with its Duke. [last-winter#382] Sensing that Draven has changed, Lady Emyl has urged an old friend to learn his whereabouts, hoping he might become an ally again. [last-winter#382]
