Early campaigns

Before the present war, Kaelen fought alongside an elven lady and a drow man, defending villages and towns from demons and monsters — companions later identified as Lady Emyl and Draven. ^{[last-winter#431 · last-winter#382]} When his companions turned to political paths, Kaelen continued his life as an adventurer. ^{[last-winter#432]}

The duel with Draven and the Shadow Annex

Kaelen followed his old friend Draven, who had opened a portal from the forbidden section of Graymond Library; the two fought, and Kaelen severed Draven's right arm, but Draven escaped and Kaelen himself was left trapped in the Shadow Realm. ^{[heralds-b#255]} He could have remained in the Shadow Annex for years, yet he was not considered lost. ^{[heralds-a#3]}

Rescue and return

The players chose Kaelen's rescue as the first quest they undertook. ^{[heralds-b#263]} The Shadow Rescue was carried out, and Kaelen was freed and brought to Moonward. ^{[heralds-a#5]}

Search for Draven in Snakecross
