On the world map: this place exists in the map data as city Moonward.
Moonward — once known as Crescent City — is a wealthy duchy and city of the Velfald Regency, built in three layers that rise with both altitude and social standing. [last-winter#382 · last-winter#415]
Overview
The city is stacked in three concentric layers — Bright Crescent at the top, Silver Crescent in the middle, and Dark Crescent at the bottom — and each layer also marks whether its residents belong to high or low society. [last-winter#415 · last-winter#624] It further contains the Academia District, Argentia District, and Gloria District, each with its own institutions and atmosphere. [last-winter#493 · last-winter#494] Within Velfald, Moonward is known as a strong and proud duchy — held up as the one land expected to remain safe even if Timbermire and Iceverf fall — and it will never bend the knee to the Winter Elves. [heralds-b#178 · heralds-b#182] Moonward wants to be Velfald's protector, yet it stays out of the Winter Elves' campaign to seize Timbermire. [heralds-b#182]
History
Once an independent city known as Crescent City in the days of Commander Tarik N'dalu, Moonward fell after an assault by the Aenarch Empire. [last-winter#507 · last-winter#508 · last-winter#514] Tarik N'dalu led the city's armies and died defending it in its final hours. [last-winter#514 · last-winter#574]
