This wiki has one rule that matters more than the rest: a statement without a source is a bug. Everything below serves that rule.

Adding to an existing page

Write the sentence, then add its source marker. If it comes from a session conversation, cite the message: {{Src|last-winter#412}}. If it comes from you — the campaign owner deciding something at the keyboard — cite nothing and mark the section GM canon instead; your word is the source, and the page history records who wrote it.

Do not soften a contradiction by averaging it. If the page says one thing and you know another, replace it, and say what changed on the talk page.

Starting a new page

1. Pick the title the sources use: English, singular, no leading article. If two spellings exist, use the one the game master uses and make the other a redirect (#REDIRECT [[Title]]).
2. First line: the infobox for the kind of thing it is — {{Infobox character}}, {{Infobox place}}, {{Infobox organization}}, {{Infobox house}}, {{Infobox faith}}, {{Infobox event}}, {{Infobox creature}}, {{Infobox item}}, {{Infobox people}}, {{Infobox concept}}. Fill only the fields you can support.
3. One bold lead sentence that defines the subject.
4. Then the sections the material calls for — not a fixed template. Two paragraphs of real content beat six empty headings.
5. Categories at the bottom.

Infoboxes also feed the index pages through Cargo, so a field you fill shows up in those tables automatically. A field you invent shows up there too — so don't.

The four namespaces

• (main) — canon lore, readable by everyone at the table.
• GM: — material players must not read: hidden identities, secret motives, dungeon solutions. Canon pages point at it with {{Spoiler}} rather than spelling it out.
• Idea: — and the == Unconfirmed ideas == sections at the foot of pages: proposals from the source conversations that were never adopted, wrapped in {{Idea}} so nobody mistakes them for canon. Promoting one is the campaign owner's call; when it happens, move the text up into the page body and re-tier it.
• Mechanic: — house rules, statistics, character sheets. Kept off the lore pages on purpose.

Open questions

When the sources disagree and you cannot settle it, do not guess: add {{Unresolved}} with the question and the conflicting citations. The page lands in Category:Needs a decision, which is the campaign owner's to-do list.

What not to do

• Do not translate proper nouns. Blackice stays Blackice.
• Do not add dates the sources do not give.
• Do not delete a cited statement because it contradicts your memory — replace it and mark yours GM canon, or raise it on the talk page.
• Do not put spoilers on a canon page "in a careful way". There is no careful way; that is what the GM namespace is for.
