Lucerion is a dragonborn member of the party known as the Heralds of the Cycle [heralds-a#120 · heralds-b#446], formerly a paladin of the Aziz (the Saint) until his divine bond was severed. [heralds-a#146 · heralds-a#149] He is one of the party's members and is alive. [owner-form-2026-09-17]
Overview
Lucerion is a dragonborn who walks the streets unidentified, with the bearing of a soldier that hints at a possible connection to a Saint's paladinhood and at the possibility that he has returned from death. [heralds-a#121 · heralds-a#124] This is notable because dragonborn are normally either merchants or bound to the empire — an unaffiliated, wandering dragonborn is rare, which makes Lucerion's case a significant detail. [heralds-a#120] Naevys Duskbloom does not know him and may not recognize at first that he is a paladin; he and Elnaril lived in the same earlier era, and both are people who died and returned to life. [heralds-a#120]
The Knightess's debt
The goddess Knightess feels indebted to Lucerion because he helped the souls of her lost legionnaires return to her; because of this debt, she does not want him or his companions killed except fairly, even by another god's chosen or a mere priest. [heralds-a#95]
Removed from Iceverf, reassigned
After Lucerion, the party's paladin, submitted a report on his findings to the High Priest, the High Priest removed him from his city assignment in Iceverf, leaving those matters to the local Magnus Arcanum and faith institutions. [heralds-a#3 · heralds-b#453] Lucerion was instead directed to deal with other threats — Snakecross, Red Seal, Shadow, and Kelruun — without presenting himself publicly as a paladin of the Aziz. [heralds-a#3 · heralds-b#453] In that same report, he admitted that he had lost consciousness during the mission because of alcohol taken in Scuto's Village, which he regarded as a sin against the Aziz and for which he asked forgiveness. [heralds-b#446]
Loss of his paladinhood
While attempting to strike a bargain with Belial, Lucerion was interrupted by Oxphideus — the deified Asmodeus — who severed his bond with his own god. He is no longer a paladin. [heralds-a#146 · heralds-a#149]
