The Frostwood Rangers are a decentralized order of hunters, trackers, and guardians who protect the wilderness surrounding Iceverf, and stand within Iceverf's defense alliance. [heralds-a#33 · heralds-a#3]

Overview

Their purpose is to protect the realm from wild beasts, marauding bandits, and hostile creatures that lurk in the icy forest. [heralds-a#33] They have no central command: small bands are scattered throughout the Frostwood, each led by an experienced ranger called a Huntmaster, who coordinates patrols, assigns tasks, and trains recruits. [heralds-a#33 · last-winter#129] Membership is open to anyone willing to undergo rigorous training and prove their dedication to protecting Iceverf and its people. [heralds-a#33]

Day-to-day duties include patrolling the wilderness, tracking and hunting dangerous creatures, aiding lost or injured travelers, and maintaining a network of watchtowers and outposts that give early warning of danger. [heralds-a#33] They are recognized as a group of skilled hunters and protectors operating in the Frostwood wilderness, and as part of Iceverf's wider defense alliance. [heralds-b#144 · heralds-a#3]

Leadership

The Frostwood Rangers are led by Brynn Stoutwillow, a Halfling. [heralds-b#164]

Notable members

Seren Frostbloom, the illegitimate daughter of Lord Alaric Frostweave, is a valued member of the Rangers: a skilled hunter and tracker respected for her prowess in the wilderness, and a role model whose methods younger recruits copy. [heralds-a#33 · heralds-b#144 · last-winter#129]

Needs a decision: An earlier record of the same material names her "Seren Frostweave" rather than "Seren Frostbloom," with the same parentage and the same role in the Rangers — is this the same ranger under two different surnames?[heralds-a#34 · heralds-b#164]

Power and politics

The Frostwood Rangers stand alongside the Antler Knights and the Everbloom Court in an alliance holding the line against the Winter Elves around Iceverf. [heralds-b#166] Commander Greywind, the Spring Elf commander known as the Hero of Grayhost, serves as the Rangers' diplomatic contact alongside the Antler Knights. [heralds-b#170]
