Grayhost is a forested county on Aenarch's northern frontier, held by the Spring Elves as a defensive line until Winter Elf forces destroyed its forest and broke the front. ^{[heralds-b#40 · heralds-b#41]}

Overview

The region is also referred to as Grayhost County and the Grayhost Forest, names used for the same stretch of front line. ^{[heralds-b#40]} By the present day of the war it lies in Winter Elf hands, ^{[heralds-a#5]} and Naevys has planned to push her forces onward from Snakecross as far as Grayhost. ^{[heralds-a#5]}

History

Caerwyn Ursa, commander of the Western Frontier, led a joint assault with the Eastern Front against Grayhost County to destroy its forest. ^{[heralds-b#40]} The attack succeeded: the Spring Elves lost the frontier and were driven into a last-stand guerrilla war, holding out as long as the last tree stood before falling back to small teams of raiders and saboteurs. ^{[heralds-b#40 · heralds-b#41]}

During the defense, the commander who came to be called "Greywind" held the first line so that the rest of the defenders could retreat toward Iceverf, earning him the title Hero of Grayhost. ^{[heralds-b#170]}
