Snowshield Count
also known as Count Snowshield, Count Rosemen
RoleCount
GM canon
first cited: [heralds-b#64]

The Snowshield Count is a noble commander who led a column of fifty soldiers toward Hollowbridge, traveling the same route as the party during the Winter War. [heralds-b#64 · heralds-b#67]

Overview

While the party was headed to Hollowbridge, the Snowshield Count was independently moving in the same direction with his fifty men. [heralds-b#64]

The Hollowbridge Ambush

The Count and his column reached Hollowbridge and found it empty and largely in ruins, with only a few buildings still standing, so the column camped in the surviving structures for the night. [heralds-b#67] That night, Gnoll infiltrators planted explosives in the standing buildings while Winter Elf archers fired into the town from the surrounding treeline, catching the camp between the two attacks; the party arrived in the town in the middle of this chaos. [heralds-b#67 · heralds-b#71]

Command and battle stats

For the Hollowbridge fight, the Count's column carried a "Commander" bonus for his tactical leadership in the battle-stat system built to run the battle, set against a heavy-armor bonus and cold resistance on one side and minor losses, disrupted organization from being caught by surprise, and a weakness in ranged combat on the other. [heralds-b#96 · heralds-b#97]

In play

In the battle-event tables built for this fight, the column is referred to once as "Count Rosemen" rather than "Snowshield Count." [heralds-b#89]

Needs a decision: Whether the name "Count Rosemen" reflects an actual tie to House Rosemen or is simply an alternate name for the same count[heralds-b#89]
