In that other campaign, Mephistopheles had imprisoned a member of Ezekiel's party who had been meddling with time; Ezekiel tried to kill Mephistopheles for it. [last-winter#868] Ezekiel died in the attempt, and his death caused the Gates of Heaven to open.
