Dark Crescent is the lowest of Moonward's three layers, the name of a guild that Draven founded within the city, and — by the time of the Winter War — the name its people have taken up as a revolutionary identity, Moonless Night. [last-winter#415 · last-winter#382 · heralds-a#5]
Overview
Moonward is built in three layers that rise with both altitude and social standing: Bright Crescent at the top, Silver Crescent in the middle, and Dark Crescent at the bottom, home to the city's low society; EKREM himself gave the layer its name. [last-winter#415]
Needs a decision: Whether the guild Draven founded and the low-society layer of Moonward that shares its name are the same entity, or the guild simply took the district's name, is not stated.[last-winter#382 · last-winter#415]
The guild
Draven, a dark elf who later became a grey elf, struck an agreement with the Duke of Moonward and founded Dark Crescent as a guild built for royal assassinations and a spy network, with himself as its mastermind, plotting together with Moonward. [last-winter#382] EKREM has also described Dark Crescent itself as a notorious and politically powerful shadow figure, on whose behalf at least one fighting-pit organizer works in the Shadowgate underground scene. [last-winter#535] Leon became part of Dark Crescent after arriving in Moonward, and trained there to feed his existing fixation on fire, becoming an arsonist alchemist rogue who sets fires that are difficult to put out. [heralds-a#7]
Moonless Night
By the time of the Winter War, Dark Crescent is known in the streets as Moonless Night: its people no longer want to be protected but want to burn, preparing for the coming war and for the fall of the imperial order. [heralds-a#5 · heralds-a#6]
