Cultures of Aenarch

Cultures of Aenarch is the index of the world's peoples: who is named in play, what the sources actually say about each, and where to read more. The campaign owner placed cultures third on his list of what the wiki must cover, with the note that not everyone in Aenarch is the same. ^{[owner-form-2026-09-17]}

How to read this page

This page draws on two different bodies of material, and they are kept apart on purpose.

• Peoples named in the campaign — everything in the sections below comes from the three campaign transcripts. Each statement carries its evidence tag, and the linked page or list entry holds the full account.
• Cultures recorded in the world map data — the final table comes from the world map file the campaign owner built, not from the transcripts. It carries no evidence tags, because nothing said in play confirms it.

Neither body of material describes a culture system — customs, tongues, rites, kinship. The sources name peoples and say what those peoples did. Until the owner fills that in, this page is an index, not a description of how anyone lives.

Elven peoples

Winter Elves	An elven people seeking conquest and power by making war on the other elven domains. [heralds-b#3 · heralds-b#4] Rather than open battle they fight through raiding, propaganda and the deliberate collapse of their enemies' legitimacy, and they hold the Grayhost region. Spring Elves	An elven people under the Everbloom Court, turned toward the protection of their own. [heralds-a#3] After losing the Grayhost front they went over to guerrilla war until the last tree stands, fighting now only in small harassment, sabotage and raid teams. [heralds-b#40 · heralds-b#41] In the course of that war they withdrew inside Iceverf. [heralds-b#148]
Summer Elves	An elven people of the Ocean's County region who employ hobgoblin mercenaries and stand in conflict with Grizzleflame. [heralds-a#7 · heralds-a#11] Having no balefire left, they tried to break the winter by burning the realm's forests, using goblins, hobgoblins and goblinoids to do it. [heralds-a#11]
Elves of the Shining Leaf	An elven people who will join the war; their civilians are to shelter in Lady Emyl's castle, and those who flee will move south toward the Moonward lands. [heralds-b#257]
Dark elves	A people that no longer exists. After the leader of the Dark Court in the Fae realm was slain, every dark elf became a grey elf; Draven once belonged to them. [last-winter#382]
Grey elves	The people all dark elves became after the death of the Dark Court's leader. [last-winter#382]
Autumn Elves	An elven people who served Elnaril during the siege; their remains lie in an old district of Deadreach, and some of them have become Smokers. [heralds-a#106 · heralds-a#107]

Elkborn	An antlered, cold-hardened people who ruled their northern land through Wardens rather than kings, unforgiving yet just, holding memory sacred. [heralds-b#432 · heralds-b#433] They are the people the Empire fears most — they cannot be frightened and always fight — and Vaelis is their sole known survivor. [heralds-b#406 · heralds-b#407] Empress Laerel Reghart is of this people. [last-winter#510 · last-winter#512]
Owlin	A bird-like, winged people; Priestess Valeria Greytalon belongs to them. [last-winter#510 · last-winter#512]
Yuan-Ti	A serpent people said to have come from the lands of the Para-Elemental Plane of Ooze. [heralds-a#43] Bella Worthmore is of this people. [heralds-a#128] Serpent-boned skeletons twisted into non-human shapes were found among the legionaries and Aenism priests who died in the crypt battle. [heralds-a#39]
Serpentborns	A people believed to hold the Worm Gods as their own gods. [heralds-b#118]
Deep Gnome	The underground gnome people Gavrim Deepdelver belongs to. [last-winter#510]
Primordials	Ancient, primal figures said in a puzzle text to have met one another "in the bright moon." [last-winter#495]

Goblinoid and orcish communities

Goblins	A goblin body that supplies Blackice's logistical strength. [heralds-b#444]
Blackice Goblins	The goblins living beneath the city who now work for Blackice, and who may want out from under that control. [heralds-b#241 · heralds-b#242]
Tincrab Tribe	A goblin tribe of the Ironwood District, split by the blood feud between the Razorbacks and the Greencaps. [last-winter#514 · last-winter#517] The tribe is in a leadership crisis. [last-winter#460]
Frozen Claw Tribe	Orcs of the winter margins around Snakecross who worship the winter, believe it came for them, and hunt and raid on that belief; they wait outside the town to attack. [last-winter#316]
Gnoll ambushers	Gnolls who slipped into Hollowbridge during the night camp, planted and set off explosives in its buildings, and killed the surviving Winter Elf archers outside the town. [heralds-b#67]

Named but not yet described

The sources name these without saying anything the wiki can state as canon. They are listed so nothing is lost, and they are among the gaps the campaign owner has to fill.

Source note: this table is not campaign material. It lists the cultures stored in the world map file the campaign owner built (Aenarch 2026-05-12-21-58.map), read straight out of that file's culture record. It carries no evidence tags because no transcript confirms it, and nothing in it is canon until the owner says so. The names, the type labels and the codes are the file's own.

The file holds twelve records: eleven named cultures plus "Wildlands", the entry stored without a type or a code.

None of these names appears in the campaign transcripts, and none of the peoples named above appears in the map file. The two lists do not meet anywhere yet.
